My statement

Conflicted between my love for the sciences and the arts I always found it difficult to choose a major that would satisfy both of my passions. And, after years of researching, architecture finally caught my eye and, ever since, I have been passionate about it. And, where else to study architecture than at one of the top-rated universities for this major in the world. I would love to attend the Manchester school of architecture and live through all the wonderful experience this university offers.

Recently, I visited an architectural structure that left me in awe and won a place in my heart above all others: the louvre in Abu Dhabi. Whilst this wasn't my first visit I am always amazed by its gorgeous structure. Conceptualized by Jean Nouvel, the Louvre is a perfect blend between modern and traditional architecture whilst perfectly including cultural and Islamic elements. The dome manages to filter sunlight to create a wonderful play of light and shadow within the museum. Furthermore, the museum is reminiscent of traditional Arab medina with its breathtaking interconnected spaces.

Zaha Hadid was the architect that led me to get attached to this field. In fact, her architectural brilliance captivates me. After seeing one of her works in Abu Dhabi, I immediately started researching and realized fast enough that her work transcends traditional boundaries and redefines the essence of contemporary architecture. Hadid’s ability to blend the traditional with modern, forming astonishing structures inspires a new generation of architects including myself. Her legacy resonates as a testament to fearless creativity, pushing the envelope of what's possible in architectural design and leaving an enduring impact on the global architectural landscape.

Finally, whilst there are a lot of architectural structures I would like to experience, the one I would truly love to see in person is the cologne cathedral located in Germany. I would love to see its glorious gothic structure with my own eyes. Representing centuries of hard-work and craftsmanship it’s towering spires are a huge part of history. I am intrigued by its intricate stone carvings, majestic stained-glass windows, and awe-inspiring interior spaces.
